Justin Nylund, DDS
Dr. Justin Nylund is excited to work in Pagosa Springs where his family has called home for years. Dr. Nylund is carrying on a family tradition in dentistry – he is the tenth dentist in his family spanning four generations! He is passionate about maintaining dental health and improving the smiles of citizens in Pagosa Springs and the surrounding areas as he did for patients in his Taos, NM and Santa Fe, NM offices for the last 15 years.
Dr. Nylund was born and raised in Dallas, Texas where he attended the Episcopal School of Dallas. Following graduation from high school, Justin moved to Memphis, Tennessee to attend Rhodes College, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies.
Dr. Nylund received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the prestigious University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. Upon graduation, Justin attended a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in Alamosa, Colorado. Justin has also participated in several dental mission trips in the border towns of Mexico, as well as provided dental care through the Indian Health Service, in both North Dakota, Minnesota, and Colorado.
Dr. Nylund is passionately committed to ongoing, advanced training in all facets of dentistry. He is one of 30 mentors for the dental legend Gordon Christensen. Dr. Nylund helps mentor other dentists on hands on and clinical classes online and in Provo, UT. He is also an evaluator for Clinicians Report which tests products and materials to improve dentistry. He has completed the Kois Center Curriculum which allows him to have a risk based approach to dentistry helping patients to reduce their risk factors, and prevent dental problems.
Dr. Nylund enjoys spending time with his three young kids and raising them in a strong Christian family. He is an avid outdoorsman, and in his free time he enjoys skiing, boating, gardening, fishing, hiking, and camping.
Dr. Nylund is committed to giving every patient the dental experience he would want for himself. He had several bad dental experiences as a kid and grew up afraid of going to the dentist. Dr. Nylund is committed to helping all of his patients achieve and maintain their highest possible oral health, while doing all he can to ensure the most pain-free experience for every procedure.
